A wet gloomy morning, I head out clad head to toe in waterproofs though thankfully the rain eased off as I headed down long meadow. Ash leaves are strown across the path, the tree above looking bare. Oak leaves have turned a bright yellow colour making the tree stand out. A woosh over head as a large flock Feral Dove zoom past.
The heavy rain has cut channels through the fallen leaves through out the woodland. White berries still cling on to a Snow Berry bush and Stinking Iris berries add a pop of bright orange to the dark damp woodland.
Branches sag low with the weight of rain and drip water down my neck as I pass underneath. I stop to make sure our giant spider is still happy in his current home along the Halloween trail while behind a Robin chirps away.
Harts Tongue Fern shine covered in rain. A Raven can be heard somewhere in the distance, appearing briefly in the opening of the canopy as it soars past.
I pass Tom’s fire sight at the walling centre from yesterday still glowing red. Form the top of the light house field I look out to sea as a Gannet soars across the top of the water, wing tips nearly brushing the water. The twittering of Blue Tits can be heard coming from the depths of a Blackthorn.
The rain fall gage had over flowed last night giving us a reading of 35mm+ that’s quite wet!
