A beautiful sunny morning with a light fresh breeze. As I walk towards the meadows, I greeted by the chattering of Goldfinch coming from within an Ash Tree. House Martins and Swallows are darting in all directions in this morning’s pursuit of breakfast. They fly low over scrub and my head with the sound of the rushing wind as they do so. I spot the first of many Chiffchaffs I would see this morning, delicately balancing on a thin branch at the top of a Wayfaring Tree.

Red Admirals can be seen in almost everywhere. Basking on the wall either side of the gate to the large copse, 10 Red Admirals Butterflies show of their magnificent colours in the early morning sun. As I approach the gate, they take off in a cloud of red fluttering wings.

Walking through tasks I can see our Hereford cows enjoying some grass for breakfast in Jack bais. At the gate into saxon I go to open the gate to find in covered in feathers as well as the ground, I suspect them to be Pigeon feather maybe a Peregrine or Kestrel had dinner here.

Along the top of round down a small flock of Goldfinch hop about a dead Elder Tree while behind three Stonechats stand proud atop a tall grass seed head. I stop and sit on the style into field 6 for a while watching Swallows and Martins zooming in all directions and Chiffchaffs in nearly every single surrounding piece of scrub. All trying to eat as much as they can before undertaking their long journey to there over wintering home. In the distance I spot a Kestrel over the gully it hovers for a minute before giving up and flying off.

I pop into the bird ringers who are having a very busy morning, when I arrive, they have just closed all the nets while they catch up with the back log of birds coming in. As expected, they have caught and ringed lots of Chiffchaffs as well as lots of other species.
