A warm start as I make my way along the long meadow. The cut grass now in neat lines ready to be bailed. Gate Keeper Butterfly’s flutter back and forth over the path as I walk along as well as a solitary Small White Butterfly. Carrion Crows peck there way through one of the neat piles of grass looking for something hidden inside. Swallow’s dart in all directions in pursuit of breakfast. They duck and dive over the field and the top of the tree line with expert precision.
Walking along the coast path I spot a Wren singing its heart out from the top of a dry-stone wall accompanied by a Robin only a meter away. Arriving at the dell the shatter of Goldfinch and Great Tits can be heard coming from somewhere amongst the tops of the trees. Along the caravan bridge I scan the wall until I spot a Wall Lizard basking in the morning sun, its brown speckled stop laid flat to take advantage of the warm morning sun.
Approaching the glass observation point the Tamarisk below explodes with Jackdaws all taking off at once and heading towards the lighthouse. Further along a Tamarisk in flower gently sways in the warm breeze, branches covered in tiny pink fluffy flowers. Along the top of the ridge two Blue Tits stand proud atop a wayfaring tree surveying their surroundings.
I pop into see the bird ringers, who tell me about there morning. A quite morning with only 40 birds caught, the highlights being a Sparrow Hawk and a couple of Redstarts.
