Swallows dance over the meadows in the bright early morning sun, zooming over the field in all directions. A light due covers the ground making everything shine. A flock of 5 or so Goldfinch bounce there way across the field chatting amongst themselves before disappearing into a patch of Blackthorn.

I find some Autumn Ladies Tresses at the hay rake quar, the bottom tiny flowers just starting to go over. Surrounding them are bright yellow Kidney vetch, Knap weed and Wild Carrot.

Wild Carrot line the path, bright white plates of flowers that catch your eye. The ones that have gone to seed curled in on themselves. Bright red berries weigh the branches of a Hawthorn down, a Chiffchaff bursts from amongst the branches and fly’s off.

I spot an odd-looking lump at the top of the gully from the lighthouse side, looking through my binoculars I can see it’s a rather round Hen Pheasant. From the bush behind a Stonechat emerges and starts shouting to another across the path.

Walking back up the light house road I spot a Raven perched on the bottom mile’s marker at the bottom of the ladder.

I pop in to see the bird ringers who tell me about seeing two Cattle Egrets fly over this morning as well as catching and ringing a Firecrest.
