We start our walking heading over to hay rake quar to have a look at the Autumn Ladies Tresses. I spot a few of the tiny sliver-coloured stems adorned with tiny white flowers twisting there way up the stem. Purple Knapweed, pale pink Rest Harrow and yellow Kidney Vetch all surround the tiny orchid. Fern busies herself sniffing in the longer grass off to the side, emerging with ears laden with Agrimony seeds, neither of us look forward to brushing them out.

Bright yellow Fleabane look like tiny suns lining the edges of the path. Field Clover creeps its way round the bottom of the grass. Over head chattering Goldfinch bounce through the sky landing on Blackthorn and disappearing into its depths. In the distance I spot a Kestrel hovering perfecting still over a far meadow, wings and tail making slight adjustments to stay in position.

Past the top of the gully where bird song floats up from the bottom and two Gatekeeper Butterflies flutter past. I pass Gorse and Blackthorn were in its depths Stonechats and Goldfinch can be heard chattering.

A Dunnock comes to land 10m in front of me on some Gorse, I sings away for a while before Ferns rustling beside me spokes the bird and it flies off.

We stop and sit on the big rock above the mile markers, Fern continues her efforts to cover her large ears in Agrimony seeds. I watch a Whitethroat come back and forth from the light house field gate post to sing. Swift’s dart back and forth some flying so close to the top of my head I feel the breeze coming off their wings.
