A Small White Butterfly flutters around the Brambles to the edge of the path by the Dell, stopping every know and then to feed on a flower. Several Painted Lady butterflies bask in the early morning sun on the wall, while two feed on a sweetly scented Buddleia. On Caravan Terrace the rock face is alive with Butterflies, I watch as a pair of Gatekeepers fight for prime position on a flower head, one eventually knocking the other off.

Walking back over the bridge I spot a Wall Lizard basking in the sun, its long tail snaking over the top of the rock it basks on. I continue down the steep path eyes glued to the water with the hope of seeing some Dolphins after yesterday’s three separate sightings, no such luck though. Though lots of sailing boats can be seen heading west taking advantage of the beautiful day and light breeze.

At the observation I can hear some Rock Pipits in the Tamarisk below. They take flight and bob there way along the top of the cliff and out of sight. Two Great Black Backed Gulls soar along the top of the cliff eyes scanning the cliff face looking for breakfast.

Towards the top of the light house road the scrub seems alive with bird life. Stone Chats call out from the tops the branches, flocks of Goldfinch chatter and bounce from bush to bush, while a lone Blue Tit flits around a Blackthorn. A White Throat pops its head out the bush briefly before disappearing. A Raven can be seen preening itself from the top of the bottom mile marker.
