Down Dell Painted Lady Butterflies fluttered round a Buddleia, in full flower covered in sweet smelling purple flowers. Another Painted Lady sunbathed with its wing open on the caravan terrace bridge. Gate Keeper Butterflies fluttered round the bottom of the rock face on the terrace. While above Great Tit searched branches for breakfast. As I sat on the bench a small Robin joined me on the bench probably hoping I had packed a picnic to share.

Heading down the steep hill the earthy smell of Bracken mixed with the sweet smell of Buddleia filled the air. More Painted Ladies, Gate Keepers and one Small White Butterfly fluttered round the verges of the path, until I turned the corner and the wind hit me square in the face.

Looking over the edge of the cliff at the glass observation I watch a Shag fly into the cliff struggling against the wind, further up the cliff a Great Black Backed Gull hunkers down on a ledge. Two Peregrine Falcons seemingly chase each other back and forth near the bottom of the cliff.

The tips of the Blackthorn lining the path have gone all crispy and dry possibly due to the dry weather and the wind. A Rock Pipit fights the wind trying to carry its breakfast, it fly’s so slow I’m able to keep up with it at walking speed.

Heading up light house road the verges are lined with Restharrow and Wild Carrot. A Kestrel hovers over the top of the gully, its head moving side to side scanning for breakfast. It then lets the wind take it and sweep it away further in land.
