Grey Willow set fluffy seeds to the breeze as a Chaffinch sheltered in an Elder nearby. The sounds scape contained vocals from Chiff Chaff and Chaffinch. A Whitethroat was in a South Field hedgerow, whilst in the meadow some of the earlier flowers out upon Yellow Rattle. I was a little disappointed to find the Saxon / South Field gate open. Fortunately, the Hereford Cattle, and more importantly their young calves, were still content and within the electric fence line.  Upon one wooden post in said fence line a Kestrel perched. I briefly admire the superb clump of Adders Tongue Fern just inside Taskers Meadow.

A pair of calling Raven arrived from the east soon to return upon a meeting with a Carrion Crow trio. A Swallow passed as it chattered. Cowslips still stood by fresh cow slops, which were visited by Yellow Dung Flies. Although, a clump of Crosswort had been flattened by cattle Bluebells remained at the margins. A Roe Deer passed between scrub cover as two Carrion Crow pecked at the back of a contented cow. Several Ant Hills had been disturbed, possible by one cow. When moving them I had noticed one would stop, get down on its front knees and rubbed it face cheeks against ant hills. Despite in being cool and cloudy, a few insects buzzed near the Hay Rake Cotoneaster. The wind rustled the thick Tor Grass in Saxon’s south facing half.

Cow Parsley and Common Vetch both had respective white and pink flowers out. A yellow flower with a thistle like basal rosette was one of the Sow-Thistles.

A pot fisherman was active off the Gully mouth, perhaps explaining the number of gulls upon the sea. Upon the lower Mile Marker a Kestrel perched upon the lowest ladder ring and even shared it with a Jackdaw. The mornings second Swallow flew past.

Tonight, is scheduled to be our first seabird boat trip of the year.
