The rain this morning seems never ending, the grey clouds stretching for as far as I can see and the constant drizzle putting my waterproofs to the test (my waterproofs failed the test). I head to the far end of the sight to see the cows who have recently returned to us.

Passing through Saxon I’m greeted with Cowslips and Buttercups popping out of the long green grass. While over by the hay rake Early Spider Orchids are still looking beautiful. Further along I spot a Wayfaring tree in flower a mass of tiny white flowers clumped together to form an umbrella of flowers. Through the gate the ground under Blackthorn and Hawthorn is covered in Bluebells.

I pass through a meadow where tall Plantain stems can be seen swaying in the breeze, Yellow Rattle just about to flower and Cowslips everywhere. As I approach fields 1 and 2 where the cows are currently are I spot four Roe Deer in the mist, they loom in to focus as I approach. There white behinds giving their positions away in the mist. In field 1 I find the cows towards the back of the field, they are hard to make out in the mist, but I do spot a couple of tiny calves.

I head down to the cliffs to see a large group of Herring Gulls arguing over a particle bit of water, I wondered if there was a school of fish down there. As I watch two Gannets soar on by, flying low to the water, their wings tips almost brushing the water. Guillemots huddle together in the ledge dark brown backs facing outwards protecting themselves from the rain. I head back to the centre to dry off after this as unlike a Guillemot I’m not coved in a water repellent oil.
