The evenings rain fall created a 16mm rain gauge reading and puddles that had shrunk had swelled again.  Occasionally, a low hum was made as wind blew over a hole in the one of the London bollards.  Within Lighthouse Field a few Cowslips had materialised, although the Meadows remained their stronghold.  Passing the measured mile, the wind was best heard racing through the vegetation rather than the marker posts. Alone a Feral Dove perched at the upper cliff edge overlooking the wavecut platform.  A Shag was seen diving from the sea surface beyond the ledge. Meanwhile, one Fulmar performed its “bouncing off the cliff face” flight.

Guillemots were in the cave an upon the sea, however, a small cloud headed of out to sea. It was possible that the bird with large, slender, almost crescent like wings was a Shearwater that headed west low over the sea. At the gully mouth there were saline waterfalls as a rock shelf was covered then revealed repeatedly. Up above were a pair of silent Rock Pipits. Below the Lighthouse it was the female of a Stonechat pair that was flitting from scrub to ground level as the male observed.

Bluebells were in flower particularly at the south-eastern corner of the Lighthouse complex boundary. A wailing sound was created as wind passed through the overhead wire. The telecoms line swayed as neither were a perch today! Dry Tor Grass blades were being harvested by a Jackdaw, presumably for nest bedding. Two easy to step upon stunted 2 to 3 centimetre tall Early Spider Orchids bloomed upon the short turf of the Lighthouse Green mound. Rosehips clung onto their stems as did some wispy Travellers Joy seed clusters. Small cauliflower-like flower heads were showing upon one Wayfaring Tree. Fresh Bracken stems stood bent holding fronds yet to unfurl. I smiled as a dog, restrained on a lead, briefly peered over a drystone wall. Amongst the wind rippled downland fresh leaves of Woodsage and Hemp Agrimony grew. Eventually, a Raven escaped being mobbed by two Carrion Crows and silently flew east.
