A bright sunny morning greeted me as I entered the park this morning. I headed off through south field where three Magpies seemed to be having a meeting in the middle of the meadow. The cheerful sound of a Skylark caught my attention I look up to see the little bird. Its wings beating furiously to keep itself stationary in its chosen spot in the sky.
I turn off and head past the hay rake quar. A tiny blob of purple catches my attention in the short turf along the edge of the path. A tiny lone Violet in flower with a tiny delicate purple flower, so small I’m surprised I didn’t nearly stand on it.
I head up towards the top of field ten, from the top the views are spectacular only made better by the bird song down in the gully floating up on the wind. Towards the bottom of the field a Stonechat can be seen sitting atop a Gorse bush occasionally chirping away to a near by neighbour. Its soon joined by a Great Tit who happily hops around the bush. Over head two Goldfinch fly pas the yellow in their feathers catching the sun.
Off to the side of the light house a patch of Daffodils adds a splash of colour the landscape. The far side of the light house at the gully entrance I spot two Long Tailed Tits flitting about the scrub on the slope.
As I approach the Guillemot ledge a large group all exit the ledge at once only leaving five individuals. A Herring Gull comes to land I the ledge which spurs the remaining Guillemots to all take the plunge of the side of the ledge.
At Tilly whim I meet a friendly member of the public who tells me they had seen two Adders this morning one along the diagonal path and one above Tilly Whim, both of which by the time I got to look have disappeared.
