Beside the office it was a Magpie perched in a Sycamore whilst a Carrion Crow called from a neighbouring Ash. Visitors to the garden bird feeder included Blue Tit, Chaffinch, and Goldfinch. From somewhere a Pheasant cockcrow rang out. A Branching Lichen dangled from a mature leafless rough bark Field Maple.

Within the Large Copse a Magpie was close to the ground near the carpet of Winter Heliotrope leaves. Entering Taskers Meadow, I felt the soft fleshy material of Jelly Ear fungi upon Elder. A pair of Carrion Crows that flew east were silent until one landed in a tree. Hay Rake Quarr was still only showing Early Spider Orchid leaves tightly hugging the ground. With care I avoided slipping on the bare clay path into the puddle at Saxon’s Soggy Sycamore Corner.

It was a Kestrel that glided seawards over the gully ravine scrub and tree cover. Upon the downland slope I exchanged glances with a pair of Roe Deer which had velvet clad antlers. Their initial calm was changed as they scampered off.

Down in the gully at least a score of Jackdaws perched in a Sycamore branch tips that protruded above the gully. Upon the lower branches were a dozen, Wood Pigeons. All these birds were either set up by me or the passing Kestrel. The Kestrel went and perched upon Ivy clad thorn that stood amongst Gorse cover. Several of the Jackdaws went to perch upon the overhead wires. I managed to pass the Kestrel without flushing it. A Raven flew towards the lighthouse a crocked in response to a Carrion Crow call before heading to the sea cliffs. Two, possibly three Fulmars were active off the cliffs as one Shag flew in.

Heading back up the diagonal path one Wren flew into Gorse then another flew into the coppice regrowth of Holme Oak. A Robin sang near the gradually increasing Cherry Plum blossom. A pair of Chaffinches race in front of me as I walked a grassy path through Blackthorn cover.
