Two Goldfinches flit around the top of an Ash Tree chattering amongst themselves. A Robin stands guard in the middle of the gateway as if guarding it, it sees me and moves aside to allow me entrance to the meadow.
Above a Raven sore’s past cronking to itself quietly. A bright sunny morning with a fresh breeze allows for a rather pleasant walk. Walking through to oxeye the sounds of a Magpies maniacal cackle can he heard coming from the far end of the field. While above two Carrion Crows Squabble amongst themselves one even dive bombing the other before zooming off.
I start to make my way down to the cliff tops; I pass some scrub where two Great tits appear from it hopping around the top. When I reach the cliffs, I look out to the Guillemot ledge to see it packed. They squeeze themselves on to the ledge dark brown back facing out towards the sea. Sixteen have been forced on the large rock due to the overcrowding on the ledge. On the water a raft of over 40 plus individuals bop around the calm waves.
I turn my attentions to the slope above the entrance to Tilly Whim scanning it with my binoculars. Movement grabs my attention; an Adder slowly moves itself in to the perfect sunbathing position. I scan further along to see a tail of another Adder poking out from some grass the diamond pattern running along its back giving it away. I start to head back up the diagonal path when something at to the side of the path catches my eye another Adder sunbathing. Darker in colour then the previous two I spotted the diamond pattern on its back still showing clearly. The diagonal path now renamed to serpent ally I make a hasty retreat.
