A light frost covers the ground this morning, it soon defrosts due bright sun this morning. The hedge rows surrounding me seem alive with bird song. As I enter Saxon field, I spot a Carrion crow peaking round in the frozen dirt by the abandoned hay rake. Two Skylarks flutter past over head heading towards the small copse.

As I get to the end of the meadow two Bluetits flack either side of the gateway, while two Robins shout at each other. One sits on the gate while the other sits atop a Hawthorn just behind the gate. Just behind the gate a Blackbird forages around the grass while it’s illuminated by the sun.

Walking round the edge of Oxeye with wall of Blackthorn to my right, I look out over the meadow to see three Skylarks take off and fly in a large circle before coming to land in the grass again. I spot one of there heads pop up over the top of the grass, giving there location away. I watch the three of them for a while before two take off to have an aerial disagreement leaving the other lonely on the ground.

Walking along the top of lighthouse field I’m blinded by the sun; I head down the steep hill to tilly whim. Once there the smell of sea mixed with a fishy odour hits me immediately, I suspect the smell is drifting up from the Guillemots below. As I get my first glimpses of the cliffs edge, they come alive with activity, Fulmars loop in and out, a Shag heads off out to sea and Jackdaws play along the tops of the cliff.  The Guillemot ledge looks as crowded as ever, five are sitting on the rock in the water at the bottom of the cliffs. The chatter from the ledge can be heard even from Tilly Whim.
