As I start my walk this morning the sunrise is obscured by a large cloud, but bright gold and red beams of sunlight can be seen omitting from the sides of the cloud. A light frost once again covers the park, with some patches that did not fore yesterday now looking snow covered with the extra layer of frost.
As I enter the woodland a Squirrel scampers across the top of the now nearly completed wall. I head down to caravan terrace where I look down in the Dell on the sea side of the bridge to see a female Black Bird who spots me and flies of in usual dramatic fashion. Right at the bottom of this section an old pile of logs has a beautiful display of Turkey Fungus growing out of it.
Further down the steep path the sounds of Goldfinches chatting amongst themselves floats down the very top of an Ash tree. They soon all take on unison and disappear somewhere over the castle. Wood Pigeon can also be seen perched in the branches of the Ash seemingly hunkering down against the cold.
Once further round the path the sun has now fully emerged from the clouds warming me. I look over the cliffs edge to see a two Fulmar circling in and out of the cliffs edge, one straying a lot further then the other dares to.
As I walk round the sound of the ruckus of the Guillemot ledge below floats up on the wind. While I can also see about 30 individuals bobbing around on the water. As I look back from tilly whim its clear to see how crowded the ledge is as 13 birds are forced to sit on the large slopping ledge.
I head up the steep hill past the mile markers, I look back just in time to see a Raven fly past with something I can’t quite make out in its mouth. As I pass through the gate halfway up, I’m greeted by several Hereford cows munching on some grass for breakfast. Off to the right of one of the larger cows a Robin singing his heart out from the top a Gorse bush.
