I head down to the castle to let a contractor in as I am passing a couple of Squirrels who rush across the path with something it their mouths. As I pass the castle heading down to the globe I notice a couple of Jackdaws sat atop both of the turrets giving an eery appearance in this morning’s fog.
I head down the path to the globe where of to my right a Robin sings somewhere within the scrub and a Chiffchaff rummages around in the leaf litter.
The fog making it hard to scan the cliff tops I manage to spot a familiar figure on the cliff edge. As I get closer it becomes easier to see the Peregrine Falcon perched on the edge. Its back facing the sea and feathers puffed up occasionally turning to look out to sea. Past the glass observation point several Jackdaws sit atop a large patch of Ash trees, they seem to loom in to focus looking like something out of a horror movie.
I look back at the Guillemot ledge when I get to Tilly whim to see it very crowed with eight individuals having to resort to sitting on the large rock in the cave. Several individuals sit on the water some just letting the water bob them up and down some preening themselves.
I head up the coast path towards the lighthouse which I can make out flashing in the distance. On the steps I disturb a large gathering of Feral Doves, who take off as one and retreat to the cliffs.
At the bridge along the lighthouse road, I stop to do some bird watching down in the gully but am pretty unsuccessful apart from a cock Pheasant which flies over head thanks to a dog further up the hill disturbing it. At the top of the light house field, I hear the familiar sound of a Green Woodpecker coming from somewhere within the small copse. I head there to try and get a glimpse of the bird but am rather unhopeful I will do. To my surprise though I do manage to get a very fleeting glimpse of the bird in at the far end of the copse before it promptly disappears.
