A light layer of frost covered the grass outside of the learning centre this morning, the sun shinny on it making it sparkle. I could see my breath as I walked and pull my buff up over my face to keep warm. Despite the cold the several Squirrels could be seen scampering around the woodland floor.

As I walked towards the castle a Black Bird popped out from on the drainage cut outs in the wall. It peered around to see if it was worth coming through before seeing me and disappearing back down in the dell. A rather plump fluffy Robin sat atop a dead tree to declare his territory. A Squirrel was digging around the bottom of a tree desperately trying to remember where he had left breakfast, eventually finding what it was looking for.

A Blue Tit pocked around the Ivy growing up an Ash tree, while at the bottom of the tree a Black bird also looked for breakfast. The black bird came up triumphant having scored itself a worm for breakfast. The familiar call of a Chiffchaff could be heard coming up from the bottom of the dell, after scanning the area for a while I finally spotted the tiny bird hopping around towards the bottom of the dell.

Arriving at the glass observation point the waves gently lapped at the bottom of the cliffs. The splashing sound of Guillemots preening themselves in the water below floated up towards me. While watching the Guillemots a Pied Wagtail fly past me landing a couple metres next me on the wall.

I headed up the coast path and around the lighthouse and headed back up the light house road. To the side a few rose hips clung on to their branch having not been eaten. While a Pheasant called from the somewhere in the distance. I then headed back to the centre for a warming cup of tea.
