A strong fresh breeze hits me as I leave the centre, I hope the Sheddies dress up warm today down at the Christmas market in town, if you are about pop over to say hi to them and have a look at all the great stuff they have made to sell.
I head towards the woodland and spot a Great Black Backed Gull flying over the top of the tree line towards Pevril Point. A Blue Tit jump around a Blackthorn off to my left side, while 3 Carrion Crows swoops past. Closely behind appearing from above the treeline over head a Raven swoops on past quietly cronking to itself.
I pass the castle and head down the steep path to the cliff path on the lovely newly laid path. From below the wall of to my left a female Black Bird startles and fly’s up in a burst of panic to fly off into a nearby bush. Looking out to see a Shag quietly flies past low to the water heading towards Pevril point. As I reach the glass observation point, I watch a large flock of Woof Pigeon fly in concentric circles a few times before all flying off over my head towards the castle.
A little further along I spot three Gannets out to see heading towards Durlston Head, easily recognised from my vantage point on the cliff with no binoculars, because of their large wingspan and black tipped wings. The one in the lead ducks down to fly closer to the water and the one just behind shortly follows suit. I watch them for a while before they fly out of sight.
I walk round the edge of the gully heading back up towards the light house road. I notice what look to be fresh Deer tracks in the mud but do not see the owner of the tracks. A Stone Chat can be seen sat atop a Gorse bush, standing out due to its white collar and its red stomach.
After this I head back to the centre where I sit writing this now watching the sun brake through the cloud cover out to sea allowing bright yellow shards of light act light stage spot lights on the sea.
