On the western boundary a Hen Pheasant ran about on the ground before flying over the wall into Durlston. At the eastern end of the ridge a Sparrowhawk left a Hawthorn perch, crossed the gully and disappeared into scrub at the meadow margins. Back in the gully a Magpie loitered above the bridge whilst three pairs of Jackdaws perch on Sycamore limbs that bobbed in the wind. Off Anvil Point, but close the sea cliffs, one Gannet headed west. I would see another heading east off Durlston Head. Below the lighthouse a Quartet of Rock Pipits meandered as two Jackdaws fled the Tamarisk clump. One Guillemot was seen flying west low over the waves as were several Herring Gulls.

At the gully mouth a pair of Greater Black Backed Gulls and one distant Cormorant flew in opposing directions at height. Wave boomed into the cliff send out explosions of spray. Occasional blasts of spray were forced out of the blow hole. I found and odd pure white like large “slug object” which I belief had been a marine creature, originally saucer shape, that had been thrown up by the waves.

The first charm of 30 Goldfinches flew from the cliff in undulating flight up the gully. Another twenty were soon to follow. Today the Peregrine Falcon perched above and empty sea cave and faced inland.

I admired the new “Judy’s Bench” on the diagonal path and was relieved I had not hand to move it. Just before climbing over the fence inn to the goat plot and Raven appeared then I had to retrieve my cap taken by the wind. The plot’s Tor Grass cover and Gorse regrowth struck me as less than expected considering its limited cattle grazing. A soil spray over limestone suggested the activity of a Field Vole. Within the lea of a drystone wall, white petals clung onto a sheltered Blackberry.

Back at the learning centre, slightly foghorn like, was the low hum caused by wind passing over the hollow in the side of the bollard.
