I head towards the large copse where male Blackbird brakes cover dramatically calling, before disappearing into the hedge on the other side. A large group of Wood Pigeon of about 30 to 40 individuals fly past heading towards the castle. In mud by the gate by the gate to the large copse I spot some deer prints amongst the other boot and dog prints.
Heading through the gate to saxon a Robin appears out of the Blackthorn to the left-hand side. It then starts shouting at its neighbour on the other side of the gate who calls back in response. Looking over the field a large grey cloud looms over getting ever closure thankfully it passes over and doesn’t decide to empty its contents on me.
Two Carin Crows take of from the top of a Hawthorn and are then closely followed by a Raven easily recognisable against its smaller counter parts. Walking along the muddy path between two fields I can hear the familiar sound of a Jay hiding somewhere in the bushes, after a looking for a while, it doesn’t make its where abouts known.
Another Raven swoops past about head height the sun shinning on its back making its feathers gleam. It circles the area a few times before flying off. Another huge flock of Pigeons swoops past heading down towards the cliffs.
A flock of Goldfinches fly straight at me at head height as they approach, they split in two groups and zoom past my head on either side. Just above the mile markers a pop of purple catches my eye I head towards it to see it’s a lone Knapweed. After this I head down to the cliffs to see the Guillemots all huddled together in the cave.
