My journey in saw my passing seven Sika Deer and a Goldfinch charm as well as tempting patches of Field Mushrooms. The weather was more favourable for last night's stargazing than for tonight’s bonfire night.
At Durlston I made a point of looking back in land towards the reclaimed landfill and I was comforted to see the Herford cattle upon the highest ground with the park. I had a moment alarm as I thought I saw a Bull upon the horizon in Eight Acres. Fortunately, it was the silhouette of a wind shaped Thorn! When moving the cattle earlier this week, I was amazed (and concerned) to find several Yellow Wort flowers in the Warren. We also found what was patches of vivid green slimy algae like (seaweed like) growth upon the thin clay soils. Elsewhere, under Holm Oak cover, upon a log a was the vivid yellow gelatinous fungi know as Witches Butter. The finger size yellow fungi emerging from a Cow Pat was a Yellow Field Cap.
A pair of Raven headed slowly west along the ridge as both called. In addition, a duo of Herring Gulls glided in the same direction. A Sparrowhawk appeared from scrub cover beside a wall, and disappeared, in low flight, coastwards. Meanwhile, a murder of twelve Carrion Crows was content in circular flight over the gully. One Magpie flew up from below the Horseshoe bridge to join another, cackling, on the edge of Lighthouse Green. I chose to nibble the rich vitamin C containing pith of a Rosehip as I passed the Lighthouse complex. I noticed several loose and one missing slate from an accommodation block rooftop. Nearby, a Wren trilled. At the base of the perimeter walls, I found a quartet of Thrift flowers.
Two Shag flew east off the sea cliffs whilst approximately seventy Guillemots sheltered in the cave. A clattering of ten Jackdaws flew above the sea cliffs as I headed up the diagonal path. Beside this I found fur filled Fox leavings. Some seven scattered occasional clusters of Gorse flowers added some colour. There was an abundance of acorns under Holm Oak cover. I passed fresh, firm Madder fruits besides shrivelling Sloes. Near the centre snippets of Robin song were heard.
