A quite stunning early morning, the sunrise covering the sky in a range of oranges and pink, silhouetting some trees while bathing others in a gorgeous pale glow.

A fantastic sight as a Kestrel glided into the midst of this colour, hovering for a time before moving on, having had no luck finding breakfast above that section of rough ground by the Globe.

Alon the cliffs a Wren was lasting out its call, while a Robin was in song.  Overhead the slightly churry call of Pied Wagtails, their movement and shape in flight fairly distinctive.

Looking back along the rock face towards the quickly fading sunrise, I was surprised to see the black and white shapes of Guillemots on the main ledge.  Only about 10, and all in their white faced winter plumage.  This led me to considering whether there had been more present earlier before dawn or if this was an advance party checking out before the rest return?

In the Blackthorn scrub the twittering of a flock of Goldfinches captured my attention, the gold flashes on their wings spotted between the mass of twigs.

A flock of 40 or more Stonechats was occupying a fenceline, on every post and the wire between, Stonechats sat, the variety of colours interesting to see, with the different ages and maturity, from deep orange to rust brown, jet black heads to mottled brown.

Last night the loud screeching of a Fox was echoing around the park and a few Pipistrelle Bats flitted past.

A Roe Deer, bolted from its resting spot, just as a large white greyhound appeared nearby – if only people would control their dogs, the wildlife such as Rabbits, Deer and Birds have enough of a struggle without being harassed by out of controlled dogs
