As I drove down the drive this morning into the park a Jay emerged from the bushes from the right and flew straight in front of my car disappearing into the bushes on the other side. It gave me the opportunity to see its beautiful colouring very clearly from the comfort of my car.

I started my walk this morning by heading towards the small copse that has taken a beating by the strong winds we experience last night. Green leaves carpet the woodland floor while three calves stand and mow at me as I walk past. The trees around me all sway gently in the wind making a very pleasant sound.

Walking through taskers as I get to the gate to Saxon, I can hear a Robin hiding somewhere in the bushes, probably sheltering from the wind as I couldn’t quite see it. At the end of Saxon I pop up the path to the right. As I wonder up this path, I notice several different kinds of berries from big juicy looking slows on a Black Thorn, some Hawthorn berries and some Clematis berries. Some Rose hips can also be seen pocking out the top of a patch of brambles.

I turn back around and head straight up the path as you come out of Saxon, along this path an Ivy has completely swoped a Hawthorn causing it to sag quite a lot. The Ivy is also covered in buds ready to flower.

Entering the next meadow, a Great Tit flies out in front of me disappearing into Black Thorn. I then hear a familiar honking noise from overhead, I look up to see a Raven silhouetted against the sky. A Swallow flies past flying low to the ground closely followed by a Goldfinch who then promptly disappears into the bushes.

Walking along the top of the light house field I spot a black dot perched on top of the top mile marker, I am unable to make out what it is through my binoculars. I hurry to the other end of the field to get a better look. It turns out to be a Carin Crow, it keeps dipping its head down and appears to be drinking water from the top of the mile marker. After watching the crow for a while, it flies off and I head back to the learning centre for a cup of tea.
