Leaving the centre, I end up running back to grab my waterproof coat as it starts to rain. I decide to take a more sheltered rout round the woodland trail as to hopefully stay a bit dryer. Walking through the car park towards the bottom of long meadow I stop some Oxide Daisies along the curb at the back of the car park. These have obviously avoided are volunteer’s efforts to weed the car park.

Walking through the picnic area I admire the Red Clover in the flower in the short grass, glistening after being rained on all night. Coming into the woodland I can hear the sound of the raining coming down on the canopy above making a very relaxing pitter-patter sound and weighing down the branches. I stop and look out over the sea at the “rest and admire” bench to see quite clearly it’s raining over Old Harry Rocks but there seems to be a break in the clouds over sandbanks, causing it to look as if there was a spot light on the sea front buildings.

As I walk along the coast path further in the woodland, I notice a Crab Apple tree laden with tiny apples. Just along a Dog Rose can be seen in flower although it seems to be coming to the of its flowering period. With some of the flowers turning brown.

As I walk along, I start to smell some Wild Garlic, looking around to find the source of the smell I notice some Stinking Iris that has gone to seed forming a rugby ball type pod atop the flower stem. I then spot the sauce of the smell a small patch of Wild Garlic that seems to have some over, lying flat to the ground going yellow and brown colours.

I walk down to the more formal planted area of the woodland to check of the some the plants me and some volunteers cleared around a couple of weeks ago. I spot some Rhododendron in flower and some Hydrangeas starting to form some flower heads.  I also walk past a Snow Berry bush that is just about to flower with tiny delicate white to light pink flowers.

Walking back along Long Meadow I admire some Bind Weed is flowering, I quietly laugh to myself after I realise, I am admiring this plant after many years of working in gardens and going to war with it most years. I then hurry back to the Centre to get out the rain which has started to come down harder now.
