A walk around the meadows to enjoy the wonderful sounds of Skylarks as they proclaimed territory and airspace, while the ground was carpeted in a shock of thousands of yellow Cowslips.
Looking amongst them some other flowers have emerged including the Early Purple and Green Winged Orchid as well as the Early Spider Orchid.
A few Bulbous Buttercups are now showing as are the bullet like heads of Hoary Plantain, while it seems that some grasses have just starting a spurt of growth.
A tinkling Goldfinch landed on an Elder bush amongst the new leaves, as it perched the sun light reflected off the feathers providing a gold, red and white feast for the eyes.
Nearby a few Linnets were perched in amongst the Gorse, the pink- almost red chests of the male showing well, as was the Greenfinches that were ‘wheezing’ from the fully leaved Hawthorn.
Just on the edge of the woods a Blackcap was flitting in the branches of the Sycamore, a much greyer looking bird with a black cap, than the nearby pale brown Chiffchaff.
Overhead the deep throated croak of a Raven drew my eyes upwards, to discover it was being harassed and bombarded by a Carrion Crow, even though the Raven was much bigger.
A few Fulmars sweeping along the clifftop, the thin straight wings very different to the wide bent wings of the Herring Gulls also living on the cliffs.
The Guillemots on the ledges have begun laying eggs, come and have a look in Durlston Castle Visitor Centre.
