The old cast iron London Bollard are being used by a pair of Great Tits, these busy yellow and black birds perching on the edge of one of the holes before disappearing into its darkness, popping out again a short time later, hopefully this will be an acceptable nest site for them.
The laughing call of a Green Woodpecker caught my ear, and as I turned this green & yellow bird landed, to stand upright on the electric pole, its shape showing against the patch of blue sky.
The scattering of Lesser Celandines just starting to open for the day as the sun emerged from behind the fluffy grey clouds, lots of blue blobs of Grape Hyacinth adding more colour, while down towards Durlston Castle some Green Alkanet is coming out along with some delicate lemon Primroses.
A gorgeous tinkling sound was tumbling from the tops of a Sycamore tree, and gazing up I could find at least 15 Goldfinches, flitting amongst the bare branches, as they moved the golden wing bars flashed.
From below the ‘chiff-chaff’ call of a Chiffchaff echoed around the scrub, this bird found after a bit of searching on the top of an Elder tree, whose leaves had just emerged with a soft green colouration.
A wonderful view of 3 Fulmars as they circled in and out of the cliffs, almost stalling as they changed direction before zooming out again, just wonderful to watch.
On the water a scattering of Guillemots with more on the ledges – we now have the Cliff Camera back working and showing the live images from the cliffs, up in the visitor centre at Durlston Castle – come in and see the Guillemots in close up.

A sudden eruption of cackling and chuckling was accompanied by 40 or so Jackdaws taking flight.
