Welcome to The Lookout café

where you can enjoy good food and some of the finest views in Britain.

Summer opening

April 1st to October 31st inclusive, 10.00am to 5.00pm every day

We aim to provide quality food whilst

supporting local producers, our

environment and Fairtrade suppliers.

The tea, coffee, sugar and hot chocolate we sell are Fairtrade.

Our rolls are baked locally by Williams of Wool, who also supply some of our cakes. Greenfields, a family firm from Three-Legged Cross, provide our round cakes and some of the tray bakes.

We use only free range eggs in our roll fillings and home cooked food, our cheese is supplied by Bournemouth Cheeses and our local meat is supplied by JJ Moores of Swanage.

The Lookout is an Associate Member of Direct from Dorset and supports and uses products from other members: Purbeck Ice Cream Company, Craig’s Dairy.

The seasonal menus have been inspired by Russell Brown of Sienna Restaurant in Dorchester.

In helping to limit our effect on the

environment we recycle our cardboard, paper, glass and plastic bottles.

The Lookout is the venue for a range of exciting events and art exhibitions, with a folk night on the last Friday of each month (booking required), see events for details. The Lookout is available for functions, meetings and private hire.

While the major planning and renovation work is being undertaken to the main Castle building and the Castle annex, the Lookout will be closed - see the Latest News or the Castle Update pages for details of catering during the building work.

An exhibition area tells you more

about the Castle project and provides information about the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
